The length and size of the needle as it moves thru the needle jet along with the size and placement of the holes in the emulsion tube, will determine the air-fuel ratio of the fuel. Along with the other operating parts of the carb, they affect how well the engine operates under each varying condition.

The CVP N65 is designed as an equivalent alternative to the Keihin N65C needle, which HD & Keihin have stopped producing.
